From Chapter 4

Arayah

After getting out of the shower and moisturizing my body, I put on my comfortable terry cloth Betty Boop pajama pants with a wife beater. I went in the kitchen and poured me a glass of wine before I went to my living room and got comfortable on the couch. I cut the TV on and flicked through the channels, stumbling upon a show called Game of Silence that was starring Larenz Tate’s fine ass, so I tuned in.

When a commercial came on, I decided to go check my Facebook page. I really didn’t do the social media thing like that, but since Facebook was the number one way for people to reach you if they couldn’t get you by phone, I went to check for any notifications. As usual, most of my notifications were game requests, but I did notice that I had a message in my “Message Requests” inbox so curiously, I accepted the request to check it out.

I was surprised to find a message was from some girl named Tasha Spencer. I knew that I didn’t know a damn Tasha, but my curiosity was piqued anyway. I opened the message and almost dropped the phone when I saw pictures of a girl walking into Leo’s studio. The girl was pretty as hell too! She was a mocha beauty with long, jet black, body wave weave that stopped in the middle of her back. Her hair alone looked like it was worth about a thousand dollars. She had a small petite frame with a beautiful smile. She was dressed in a sleeveless black romper that cut low in the front and the pants had wide legs. I knew that the pumps she had on were red bottoms because I owned a few pairs myself. Even though the clarity of the pictures weren’t all that, I could tell that the lady was beautiful, and she looked like money. Just from her demeanor in the pictures, I could tell that she was somebody important.

What threw me off were pictures of her later emerging from the studio, hugged up with Leo. They were very close to each other while his big arms were wrapped around her, practically covering her face. The way they were looking at each other told me that something was going on. Those smiles were too damn big for me to believe otherwise. She had on different clothes, that looked like they belonged to Leo, and her perfect body wave hair was thrown carelessly into a bun.

I threw my phone on the carpeted floor and let out a deep sigh. How the hell could he do some shit like this to me? It wasn’t like I was one of these thirsty-ass bitches that was pursuing him and not giving up. Nah, it was him that wanted me. My dumb ass just happened to fall for all the bullshit that he’d fed me. I didn’t understand why he would do me like that knowing what I had just gone through. Even after I told him I wasn’t ready for a relationship, he made me let him in a little bit. I thought that I could trust him, but I guess I was wrong again.

My phone started ringing, and I picked it up and saw that it was Leo calling. I twisted my face up in disgust and just watched his name flash on my display.

“Nah, bitch. Don’t call me now. Fuck you!” I said, as if Leo could actually hear me.

When I didn’t answer the phone, Leo called right back. “Don’t call my fuckin’ phone no more!” I yelled, picking up in the middle of the second ring. “In fact, lose my number and forget you ever knew me. I can’t believe the nerve of you! I’ll be finding myself a place to live and moving out of your property ASAP! I don’t want your help with shit. Good riddance.”

I hung up before he even got a chance to say a word. I didn’t want to hear any of his excuses and lies. I was done. I wasn’t about to go on the path of a destructive relationship once again.

It's easy.
